King Saul: A biblical history of the Jews

G‑d tells the prophet Samuel that the kingship must be removed from King Saul and given to a previously unknown shepherd named David, the son of Jesse. In this class we learn of the tragic and final chapter of Saul’s life, in which he becomes obsessed with preserving his kingdom and killing David.

King Saul I wonder what the music was that King David played for the Psalms. The music most habe been so beautiful to calm Saul's spirit. Does anyone have the music written down that one can hear it? Reply

Another ironic act by King Shaul And yet another irony: Shaul would not kill King Agag or the best of the animals of Amelek, but thought nothing of killing his own countrymen and animals, to include the priests and the High Priest of HaShem!
Shmuel I - 22:18 And the king said to Doeg, "You turn, and fall upon the priests." And Doeg turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day eighty-five men, wearers of the linen ephod.
19 And Nob, the city of the priests, he smote with the sharp edge of the sword, both man and woman, infant and suckling, and ox and ass, and lamb, with the sharp edge of the sword.
And again, these were innocent people who did not intentionally act against the king, but thought they were doing what he would have wanted them to do. Reply

David Tribe of Judah Ruth 1:1 Back in the days when the judges were judging, at a time when there was a famine in the land, a certain man from Beit-Lechem went to live in the territory of Mo’av --- he, his wife and his two sons. 2 The man’s name was Elimelekh, his wife’s name was Na‘omi, and his two sons were named Machlon and Kilyon; they were EFRATIM from Beit-Lechem in Y’hudah. The tribal lineage of David is that of the Efratim no matter what tradition says. Reply
