Life is an experiment. You are the subject.

We begin with a hypothesis. Then we devise a test.

But one test is not sufficient. We have to test our hypothesis under multiple and diverse conditions.

If in each situation the same result occurs, only then can we say we have discovered a truth.

So too with the truth within you.

Standing in one safe and comfortable space throughout your life and remaining a good boy or girl is no big deal.

It’s only when the earth keeps shifting beneath your feet, the seasons carry you from one extreme to the other, and every day demands a mode of life distinct from the day before
—only then can you discover the truth you hold.
