Pull a Rope

Pull a rope and you will find what it’s tied to.
Yank it hard and see how tight is that knot.

So too, there’s only one measure of your connection to the One Above:
When the whole, big world is tugging you downward and in every direction you never wanted to go, how firmly can you hold onto your cool, to your confidence that it’s all good, that everything that comes from Him is good?

As long as we’re alive living in this earthly world with all the distractions flying past us everyday, everyone of us will experience the weight upon our shoulders pulling us further an further to the ground. A weight so strong at some times, we’ll feel like giving up. However, if our bodies are strong and our minds are centered upon traveling down the right path, then we’ll be able to grab hold of that lifeline rope. Actually it’s G d, who’s dangling that rope in front of us; he’s telling us hold on I’ll pull you up. However, you must put forth all of your own inner effort to muster enough strength stored in your mind, body and spirit to be lifted up by your Heavenly Father, G d. Reply

Rabbi Tzvi,
I am fond of this Hebrew phrase because occasionally I encounter those who think that being one with God means walking on water without sinking. In this Daily Dose, you invite your readers to "gauge" their connection with God, that is, to locate themselves on the spectrum between the Tzaddik and a Rasha. Personally, I consider myself a Rasha in every sense, yet I would never presume to test my G-d. Reply

The Mishna (Avot) instructs: “Do not consider yourself to be a Rasha.”

In the first few lines of Tanya, we are told how perilous it is to think badly of yourself, as it leads to the very worst spiritual illnesses.

Holding tugging gently, the silken the Dear Rebbe,
I do this not with my hands by themselves, as guided by my faith. My judge G-d? always my inspiration, my questioner, a serpent on the other end of the rope? ... Or the rope never ending. The pull of awe and inexplicably without doubt, with wonders draws me stumbling at times,, all the same the struggle, the seeking, me the person, human chose to be a Jew, sometimes, not internal but external, looked upon as less than a person, by some culturally "Jewish" as I less than one. All the same, I lovingly forgive their lack of wisdom. I am a Jew. Reply
