Sometimes I wish I had ten hands.

One to hug, one to stir a pot.

One to tie a shoelace, one to prepare a bottle.

One to wipe the table, and one to . . .

It can get overwhelming.

A Jewish woman has numerous roles. She has the responsibility to cook, soothe, educate and care for her family. She is running a kosher kitchen, ensuring that her children’s needs are provided for, and being an exemplary model to the world of what a Jewish woman should be. She may wonder, “How can I fulfill such a huge responsibility?”

Our sages teach that when G‑d said, “And you shall make for me a Sanctuary, and I will rest amongst them,” Moses exclaimed, “Who can make a Sanctuary that G‑d will reside in? ‘Behold, the Heavens cannot sustain You.’”1 If the Heavens cannot host G‑d, how can a mere mortal?

G‑d responded, “I only ask of them according to their ability.”

Thoughtstream: G‑d only entrusts me with a mission that He has empowered me to accomplish.
