There are days when I have to juggle my commitments to make time to pray. But while I may not have control of how long I can pray for, I always have the ability to remember who I am praying to.
The son of the Tzemach Tzedek, the third Chabad Rebbe, once expressed to his father that while his mother spent many hours saying Psalms every day, her Hebrew reading was inaccurate and laden with grammatical errors. The Tzemach Tzedek was not pleased with his derogatory report, and remarked that it was his wife’s Psalms that sustained him while he was imprisoned in St. Petersburg for working on the behalf of the Jews in Russia.
The Rebbetzin may have mispronounced a word or two, but her words were not misdirected. They were accurately aimed at G‑d Himself.
Thoughtstream: I will utter words of prayer with the awareness that I am speaking with the Creator Himself.
