I always dream about the nursery—the exact shade I will paint my sons’ room, the lamp that will match the dust ruffles, and the custom closet for their toys and knickknacks. I scan Pinterest, Google ideas, and mentally file “the look” I am most drawn to.
All the while, I still try to maximize the space that I already have, deciding which picture to hang on which wall, which container to store each toy in. Even sans a grand theme, I still want a homey appearance.
The same way I invest in the organization and beauty of my physical house, I can invest in the beauty of my spiritual home, permeating it with the knowledge of G‑dliness and holiness. Each carefully chosen item in the home functions to create an environment that fosters spiritual development.
In other words, a Jewish theme.
Thoughtstream: Today, I will recognize that my home is designed for my child’s body as well as his soul.
