poetic conceits are fun GLT is dehydration. (Often mistaken for "grogginess".)

"Flying" is getting out bed, beginning the process that eventually lead to a glass of water. (You can take the water as a metaphor for one of the things water is a metaphor for, but for me this situation is frequently literal.)

And you'd better bet that getting up takes some serious meditation sometimes.

The GLT isn't the same as the "night" or the "sleep" but it is a related side effect, since when I'm asleep I tend not to be drinking water, and that becomes noticeable...whenever I decide to wake up, on a given day.

(And this is what people mean when they say "the redemption is already here...you just need to wake up and see it!")

It's better to drink the water before going to sleep, in which case I might not need that meditation to get moving. But some days I'm really tired the night before...

How is dehydration a good fuel? Well, tisha b'av is coming up, followed not too long after yom kippur...;) Reply

GLT GLT is GaLuT, or golus (exile).
And thinking about higher things is the best strategy to get out of it because that way we get more aware of it's non-existence.
GLT is an effective energy source when exploited strategically because this world was created in order for us to refine it. That means that by doing mitzves we elevate this world, and that brings divine light down here. Reply

he he GLT is actually my name with a plus... Gabriela Libânio Thinking... or Trying To!!

And yes, it does get me out of level: stuck!! That is because whenever I get so attached to slimy things, I put myself into an higher level of thinking, just knowing that if i am stuck, it is because I need to stop for a little, and I do! Then I thank G-d for it... and I am immediately released! And my heart ex pands with joy, because I know that HE is always there for me. Wow, it is good to get stuck, I get the unique opportunity to learn and move on with a lighter heart! Reply

(My Explanation III, note) As to what GLT actually is as an abbreviation refering to this whole idea, I mostly agree with Hector from North Little Rock; I believe that it actually IS Ground Level Thinking. Reply

Feivel (feivel-pro or feveil-lite) gets dirty in the GLT even though he knows he is not supposed to be playing in that stuff. Once that happens Feivel is no longer in sync with the brain in his head that is telling him that stuff is bad and so he gets into more trouble even though he knows he is not supposed to. The advice is to get focused on higher consciousness but that can only be properly done by using the mind, the rational soul, the step-by-step-organize and develop faculty in the brain and focus that on inspiring stuff like the gigamungas world surrounding you that you did not create, contemplate the isifier 1 and 2 and 3 and other inspiring stuff.

"GLT is a healthy feivel byproduct when used strategically" it's sort of like looking at a candle in a dark room. Reply

My Explanation II (CONTINUED)
Then there's the recycling bit. It's very true (especially in certain cases) that if a person tries "too hard" to keep all of the mitzvot, and practically makes himself go mad by overwhelming himself with making sure that everything he does is according to precise, strict, Jewish law, he can go mad and even end up hating the religion altogether, because he simply doesn't get the whole point of it.

So whatdowedo? We must realize that there is nothing wrong with playing around sometimes; such as playing games with your kids (boardgames on Shabbos, going to the park or Disneyland, etc.) as long as you use your time wisely. Same goes for taking a break from whatever work you may be doing at the moment; "playtime"/breaktime is good, as long as you spend your time wisely.

My Explanation(I think I actualy got it this time! Ok, so we all have those days when we get carried away with pointless games that we play for hours on end, simply wasting away our time. In some cases, we even REALIZE it, but we're just too addicted to stop. So how DO we get out of it? Do what the video tells us; meditate on "higher thoughts"; think about a certain Torah lesson that you've learned and test yourself on it; something or other like that. The thing is, your soul always craves these things, and your Yetzer Hara keeps you from getting it by getting you addicted to these pointless games. Therefore, clearly, the best "antidote" is Torah and Chassidus. Reply

Ground Level Thinking GLT = Ground Level Thinking, that is, get so focused on what is going on down here, the ground level, that that is all we see and we get stuck in it, thinking only in about material pursuits, and just like feivel, the more we get into it, the more we create it ourselves. Focusing on higher things (HLT = Higher level thinking) and the beauty of creation helps us break free from the clutch of GLT. Reply

Gyres of Lost Time The gyres were dreaded by ships because if you got stuck it was almost impossible to get out. The most frustrating thing in life is wasted/wasting time. So GLT is going back to those moments that we wasted, and becoming frustrated and stuck in past memories of what we could have done, but did not do. This is true especially for people recovering from depression, or baalei teshuvah (returning) or for those who are growing into Judaism. You are walking along in pursuit of G-d, the gyres unexpectedly pull you back into the sorrow of all the time you spent away from the King, all the time you spent not appreciating all the blessings you have.
Luckily we have R. Infinity (Rav. Freeman's wisdom, and all those contributing to Kabbalah Toons) and all the other teachers who help us focus our minds and turn that lost time into something we can learn from. Past mistakes help us become better people. So when you look back, its o.k. but don't stay too long in the past. You have the present, it's a present. The future awaits us with Hope and Peace. Alternative: GLT - Gelt! You see something sticky (green money..) and you would love to play with it although you constanly hear from the people that have 'been there, done that' with wealth that "money doesen't buy you happiness", still you want to 'try it out'.

It just gets you deeper and deeper, subconsciously wanting more and more money; and only lifting yourself higher by learning (through kabbalah/chassidus) the true meaning of man's purpose on earth can get you out of this mess and use your money in a good way to help others!

Now - as I don't believe this to being the true meaning of GLT, this can just be a good alternative! Reply
