The bravest heroes are also the most humble.
G‑d made the hearts of David and his soldiers strong and brave, so they would win in battle against Israel’s enemies.
He made the hearts of Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Akiva stubborn, so they could traverse the highway from ignorance to enlightenment in adulthood.
They were all sensitive, humble men, nothing in their own eyes.
But G‑d put a stubborn courage in their hearts—and that they would not surrender.

G-d Wisdom When G-d created us he put us here in this planet not to fear the dark but to be in the light with One G-d. In other words, Moses was very humble not egotistical or self-centered. In other words, G-d wisdom is in the mind, while emotions are in the heart. Reply

Part 2. Stubborn and courage in thisdDD
are two words that get used positively. In my previous post i used the word arrogance. I also alluded to context. Now i want to extrapolate to semantics. One way or another i am aiming to give arrogance a positive spin, if for no other reason than it has always been treated so negatively. I would not want to be called arrogant. That said, when you present debate it's hard to accept that ego and arrogance get parked at the door. I remember the first time i saw yeshiva partners raising the roof on debate. I thought that it was 100 % arrogant and ego based. Guess what ? It is. I know arrogance when i see it. I guess i should say that i saw arrogance in action, but that does not mean that the students were highly arrogant internally. Just a bit.
Normally stubbornness gets a bad rap. But in this DD it gets a very good trait. Throughout Yom Kippur we read about the negative quality of ' stiffnecked '. Character traits can sure get muddy sometimes. Matters of context, semantics and balance.

Throwing it out there ...
A couple days ago i read a rabbi's item about arrogance and how we had to have some. It made me think. All along i have learned that arrogance is bad and humbleness to the nth degree is good, just like your DD here. I wish i could remember his exact thesis, probably based on last week's parsha, how Pinchas was arrogant and took matters into his own hands, and got rewarded with priesthood. i wrote to the rabbi about humbleness of Abraham, Moses and Moses Maimonides and how they were 100 % humble, no room for arrogance. Like i mentioned, the arrogance trait is always entrenched in the Animal Soul, ego etc. My message to the rabbi pointed out that it must be about context. For right now, let's drop the context factor. I am now of the mind that arrogance is essential in some measure. It prevents you from getting walked over, and standing up for your rights. Arrogance is what drives the chevrusa studies. Strut your stuff but end amicably.
Open to other opinions.

IMO arrogance is never good, and is always what one might call "ego food". Arrogance also stems from inner fear of not being right, etc. Arrogance is more than mere confidence. An arrogant person refuses to accept other opinions because of the threat that he/she might be wrong. When it comes to spiritual things these people have based their entire life and "afterlife" on being right. So if they can bolster their opinion by making others agree with them, they will do just that. Missionaries are a good example: they have based everything on the particular doctrines they profess.
However, when one humbly shares his or her personal insights, they want to help but are also open to suggestion or as Anonymous is. If he is arrogant, he will put up a fight haha. "no, you are wrong and I am right!" "If you don't agree with me, G-d will curse you and send you into punishment".

If we taek into account the fires in Israel now and the hostages that they still have. The wisdom fragment is related to times of war. In those times you are allowed to use arrogance as a shield. Surel y, named as stubborness to not let the other side win, when lives are in danger, for that you do need the strenght of arrogance. Yet, we know that all the soldiers in IDF, are humbly dedicated to protect the State of Israel ,and us too.
