Did you ever have teachers who were undeniably unfair? They prepared tests that a majority of the class would inevitably flunk, and they raised the bar so high that no one got to even glimpse it.

Then there were the teachers who challenged and stimulated, while providing ample tools and guidance.

Those were the builders.

The Torah describes the creation of woman with the verse, “And the L‑rd G‑d built the side that He had taken from man into a woman.”

The word that means “built,” vayiven, shares a root with the word binah, comprehension. This suggests that “an extra measure of binah, understanding, was given to a woman.”

G‑d, in His infinite kindness, did not just grant us the job of caring for our families. He endowed us with the understanding, intuition, and sixth sense to go about it.

For we are His builders.

Thoughtstream: Today, I will appreciate the fact that I am building my home, my marriage, and all the big and little people inside that structure.
