I think this interesting and a good advice. It is similar to " Do not stand idle when your brothers, are beiing killed Al taamod b'dam reicha! This fragment of the Rebbe could very well apply to the issue in Israel about the IDF. Should every participate in the Army? My humble answer is yes. There is no prohibition in the Aseret H'adibrot, and we wnt to war with Joshua as a leader. Finally in addition, there are many "Lone" soliders that come from the Galut and paticipate in protecting Eretrz Israel- like my brother in the Yom Kippur War. and others that I know off. Why such a argument when chas v'shalom we might to confront the issue of loosing the second most cherished notion we have as Jews? Reply

Amongst all our irresistible egoistic desires we have one special spiritual desire that is the last to awaken. This single spiritual desire motivates us to connect with the Highest Power to draw His positive light for humanity.

When people in whom this desire has awakened, transcend their egos and make a special request to be as brothers in unity then they merit to feel the Light between them. This spiritual act draws the Light into our world to radiate to humanity. Eventually there is a tipping point for the masses to realize the desire too.

This is the revolution we must initiate. Our patriarchs achieved it. Moses achieved it. Now it is up to us to turn the whole world in the opposite direction from it's current path of conflict and devastation.
This is our mission: to create Jerusalem in our hearts to build a place of peace for whole world, now. Reply

Strangely enough, maybe this is a trick question. We humans, as we stand now, do not have any power to do anything about anything. What we can do is surrender ourselves, our egos, and our fears to Actuality.

The world is totally misinformed that knowledge is power, or lack of knowledge is lack of power. As a matter of fact what is important is Actual Reality. The One Doer is Doing. So what is stopping you? You. Reply

It seems the premise behind this is to encourage an individual to do something. Every little bit counts. Even the most seemingly minor mitsvah has an effect on our entire system. Reply

There may be someone who can overturn the world all by himself or all by herself.

I can do mitzvos. More than yesterday, less than tomorrow. And I can doven. More than yesterday, more than tomorrow.

It won't overturn the world to do that, but that is something I can do. Reply

Revolution - Turn Hate into Love What use is it to mourn the destruction of the Temple when we continue to live in hatred towards each other, for the benefit of the self?

Only when we live as 'one man with one heart' will we draw the Light to allow us to fulfill our mission to spread that 'light unto the nations of the world'.

When we disconnect from each other in our hearts we destroy the connection between the building units of the holy temple within our hearts and minds - this shattering manifests in it's physical form as the destruction of our Temple or in the mass destruction of our people.

We need to turn hate to love to rebuild the temple within then only will the physical Temple be manifested too. It all depends on our attitude. Reply

Revolution Within our nature The kabbalists revealed that they saw an 'upside down world'.

They saw the spiritual world - an interconnected system in which each participant received the abundance to pass onto the rest.

- compared to our world where everybody seeks to realize their individualism to gain for their own benefit as much as possible.

G_d needs us to recognize this disparity in our nature,
- then request this change of character on behalf of the collective assembly of Israel
- who will then bring this Light to pour over all humanity to raise them to the next world.

Everybody loves the mitzvah of Sukkos. Lots of Conservative and Reform Jews build sukkahs and eat in them. People love the "thou shalt" mitzvot. Although I admit that "greet all with a cheerful countenance" was a big shift. The most difficult mitzvot seem mostly to be the "thou shalt not" ones.

I keep kosher and I don't drive on Shabbos (and go to shul instead of to work and don't buy or sell and don't cook and don't light a fire etc.) And I miss work on Jewish holidays.

But I'm still working on some of the other mitzvot, before I try to change the world I try to change myself. Reply

When Hippies organized a food strike they fasted for answers and charged the streets in unison Descendants of hippie generations brought on movements engaged in human rights causes which were liberating. People practice to live the lifestyle of their choice by the values they appreciate and identify with. Many descendants of liberator types were just trying to be groovy by being themselves. Bored of conventional institutions which didn't seem to connect up people in a manner which was progressive, these tried to press for change in numbers. With foreign populations present in the US for instance, it was not unheard of for neighbors or co-workers to be: Asian, European, African, or the latinate. A real diversity trying to make a life, communing with one another professionally, creatively & academically. Hollywood seemed to engage in the practice of yoga, or some other method to awaken the masses. The need for stillness & health brought Martial Arts to train towards an inner discipline. People found the guts to speak out to see what sort of Jew or believer they were.

Love of our fellow If we have the strength we need to take practical action: We need to comprise a physical-spiritual army. We need to be united and humble and G-d fearing and engage in love of one's fellow by spreading love and deeds of kindness. Reply

Inactivity I'm just starting out on my journey to become Jewish. Please forgive me if the following is way out in left field where the dandelions grow.

I think that what the Rabbi is saying is, "Get up off of the floor and be active in Judaism!"

It isn't enough to just follow commandments when it is easy. We must follow them all the time. Same with holidays. Everyone is good at the pity party stuff. What we need to do is get up and work at being Jewish. Reply
