The Echo Upstream That river of life is the very essence of G-d flowing in every living being and everything we see and feel is the river of the Presence of G-d flowing into everything and everyone He created. When we bless the food with joy, it tells G-d how much we appreciate His life flowing like a river from his essence into all He created. We sense His presence and give Praise to His Name. This is my own thought. Thank you for sharing this awesome wisdom.Always be mindful of His Presence flowing like a river. Reply

I don't quite understand... I don't quite understand. What exactly is the river supposed to be? Is it a person's character (both Jewish and non-Jewish), the Torah, and/or Divine Providence? Is it something else? Also, what blocks the river, and how can it be unblocked? Reply
G-d is always happy, joyful, and so on.
Your sense of me, me, is your downturn.
But G-d can fix that, and will be very happy when you give it all up.
When you give up your self-contentedness and are only One with G-d, that will be the end of your fear, and the beginning of enjoying your Oneness with G-d.
