A young man came to the Rebbe to receive his blessing. The Rebbe looked at him and said, "A Jew must be happy!"
The young man replied, "Rebbe, what is there to be happy about?"
The Rebbe answered, "Be happy that you were privileged to wrap tefillin this morning!"
The young man mumbled a few words that made the situation quite obvious.
The Rebbe responded, "Be happy that you have a G‑d who waits every minute for the moment you will return to Him and wrap tefillin!"

I love the email and I read it every morning but I don’t understand how the story is related to the message of believing in one self. Reply
Think of the last half of the sentence: “as much as G‑d believes in you.”
That’s what the Rebbe was telling the young man: G‑d believes in you no matter how low you may have sunk. And if He believes in you, you must be worth believing in.

A loving G-d is our friend. If we perceive our lives this way, even the toughest, hardest challenge, can be dealt with peace in our hearts. Then when we reach out to others for the benefit of another, we “feel” His Presence in our lives. Reply

Beyond Actions
Actions and customs are great - they remind us of G_d and our mission -
Nevertheless...
Only our intention to nullify our self-love and connect in unconditional love to others will attract His Light to return us to Him.

I stopped wearing tefilin when I lost my job even though I am still grateful to God for the health of myself and my married son and daughter in-law and hopefully their children and my daughter
