Some of the recipes on this list are Sukkot-specific, and others are just delicious recipes that can belong on any holiday table.
You’ll find:
- Round challah, which is traditionally eaten (dipped in honey) through the end of Sukkot (More challah recipes here)
- Chicken soup (always traditional!) and kreplach, which are traditional for Hoshana Raba. (Find more chicken soup and kreplach recipes here)
- Several one-pan meals. Who doesn't love a full meal in one pan? It's especially helpful on Sukkot, when you can use a nice oven-to-table baking dish and bring the entire meal to the Sukkah in a single trip
- Stuffed cabbage. It’s customary to eat stuffed/rolled food on Hoshana Raba and Simchat Torah, so I’ve included the traditional stuffed cabbage and a couple of other stuffed options. (See Why Eat Stuffed Cabbage on Simchat Torah?) If you want the flavors of stuffed cabbage without all the work, check out the unstuffed versions on this list.
- And since the first day of Sukkot and Shemini Atzeret both fall on Shabbat this year (2026), I’ve included some overnight Shabbat dishes—like cholent and yapchik—that go into the oven before candle-lighting and are ready to eat the next day.

hi! I'm Syrian and I LOOOOOVE lachamagine. its literally the best thing ever and we have it every week on Shabbat. also I like mujadara (pronounced: em-jed-rah). its parve and its relatively easy to make if you have a rice cooker. I definitely recommend making it with onions on top.
