There are two types of events in life: Good and very good. Sweet and bitter-sweet.
Sweet, because from each event in life we grow.
Bitter-sweet, because it is so painful to tear ourselves away from who we once were.

Bittersweet Irony
How ironic that Bittersweet would be posted today! I always read comments so I found my post of 5-14-14 - right after Mother's Day that year.
The irony is that today is the actual date of my younger daughter's death - 23 years ago. My own post reminded me of HaShem's chesed and the fact that miracles are all around us - we only have to open our eyes and look.
One of the biggest lessons I received from the deaths of my daughters is that we don't mourn the past, but the future - the grandchildren that will never be and that there will always be an ache when asked how many children I have.
At the same time, Hashem has provided me with 3 "adopted kids" - 2 sons and a daughter; another miracle.

Thank you for posting, your positivity in your comment is very encouraging . May you feel blessed in a revealed way all your life and have nachas in good health! Reply
Todah, Udi! Your comment put a huge smile on my face. Five + years later the health is not so good, but not so bad that I can't live independently, B"H. The "bad days" only serve to increase the blessing of "good days!"
May you be blessed in double all you have wished for me!

going toward the problem Every day events or things come into our lives. we are always presented with choices, Do we look away, or turn and go towards the problem. If you cannot fix everything, fix a little bit. But we ll know there is something can be done. We are entrenched in our own thought and lives it is easy to see beyond ourselves. but when you notice fixable situations, go toward it, You wi always get a smile and thank you. Expand your world to seeing. You wil have a good day - for you may be doing something that you never expected. You would be going in a direction to save the world. Reply
Mmmmm mmmmm good!
**waving my hand in the air like I do at church while saying Amen AND Ouch**
Bitter - yes that is the way it felt to tear myself away from all I was, all I had worked so hard to achieve. At the time I did not realize that I had to separate myself from "me" in order for the real me to come to the surface. At the time I did not realize that the stuff defined me. Yes, it was a bitter experience. But now when I look back on it all, I can't name two things that I miss about the old me.
Life is sweet. And it gets sweeter as the days go by.

Bitter-Sweet
I sent this message to Rabbi Goldman at the OKC Chabad Community Center yesterday:
I don’t think I’ve shared with you that my daughters [died 19 & 13 years ago] always have “communicated” with me on Mother's Day via coins on the sidewalk or parking lot. Today was absolutely amazing … I often stop at 7-11 on the way home from my coffee klatch with friends; I was in a blue funk and as I got out of my car, there was a dime, heads up (“in G-d we Trust”) … and on the way back to my car, I found 8 pennies, all head’s up; I know they were not there on the way into the store! (Obviously, I sort of look.) Not only was the total 18, but there also is to the tie-in to their birth days of 5 & 13 which also equals 18.
I got to my car, looked up to the heavens and said Baruch HaShem. I did think of the Rebbe’s word on miracles – they are there to see if we just open our eyes!
The grief that can wreck my soul became a point of joy because of HaShem's chesed.

May the memory of each of your daughters be a blessing. Reply
Todah. Jeff! Your totally unexpected act of kindness and compassion has left me speechless. You have no idea how much your words mean ... and I truly don't know how to express it! Reply
Sometimes events are neither. Sometimes they are salty, and sometimes they are sour. Sometimes it is good, and sometimes it is bad.Such is the taste of life. Reply
WOW!! This one hit the bullseye for me! Reply
This knowledge is a part of my theory and understanding that simple facts about us and our society always come in opposing pairs. This is particularly true when it comes to economics and we find that we try to produce desirable goods with the least effort but our desires for them are unlimited..
