Every person you meet has a wellspring deep inside.
If you haven't yet found it, remove the rust from your shovel, sharpen its blade, and dig harder and deeper.

Dig Deeper There is a wellspring in each person we meet because there IS the Spark of G-d in one. If their behavior does not show that Spark, it is not because it is not there, but because they do not know how to serve that Spark. I can see that it is very hard for us in this world to bring Heaven down to Earth. To do such a thing, we need to understand how to do it. That, the understanding, is the hardest part. I, and myself only, need to remove the rust from my shovel, sharpen its blade, and keep on digging harder and deeper, until my soul reach, and grasp the essence of G-d in this deep. The Rebbe was so right. Learning Torah is not enough, doing is what's important. Relating ALL to Him who gives us the breath of life. For what I understand so far is that we need to do what is right before G-d, and let G-d take care of the rest. It is painful, the injustice committed, but we cannot live with anger, and hate. This final act would destroy us, like it is destroying them. Reply
Chabad When I found chabad.org I was very coarse and even psychotic. However, this website has refined my heart for the better. I might as well have been Boruch Choker, the so called wicked son, when I got here. However, I have gotten to be much more loving since encountering chabad.org. Thanks! Reply
thanks on legalities
Thank you for correcting my mistake about taking things from scripture.
So let me approach it from another angle: those responsible for the slaughter of the Israeli family of five in the West Bank town near Nablus, Madoff who ruined so many lives including the suicide of his own son. These may be aberrations. Nonetheless, your article says all men, and saddles me with digging for the good. Sorry, not for me. As for the Jewish court, they didn't look too hard to find the good in Eichmann. I don't fault them. Their decision was not taken from scripture perhaps, but the result was the same. And their action probably has a source in scripture, which may not be at a level that is obvious to you or me.

Re: legalities
When was the last time you saw a Jewish court pelt someone to death with stones? Or burn a culprit to death?
It's a mistake to attempt to surmise Jewish law from scripture, just as it would be a mistake to evaluate an artist's work from his palette.

dig deeper
Shabbat Shalom,
I would recommend looking within and digging deeper. When I find MY wellspring, those of others will present themselves clearly to me. God created the world for me, and when I KNOW this, all is available to me.
Thanks,

i like the ideal you write. How prevalent is it ?
Jewish law has execution by stoning and execution by burning. Why is that ?
Jewish law does not have execution by drowning. One is wise to dig for wellsprings with caution.

Dig Deeper You are so kind...........but sometimes a shovel just isn't the answer. You can dig so deep you fall out the other end and still without progress. Sometimes you just have to turn and walk away and leave the rest up to G-d. Reply
maybe it me
maybe its me but i have tried this for many many many years only to learn that people are not to be trusted and would explain Tanya and why ths is mostly what i can relate to. the animal soul within myself and others. when i find a G-dly soul i will let you know but so far...nothing.
please keep in mind that i was not raised jewish or had many jewish friends. i have lived amonst the rest of inhabitance of the earth. i am sure if i lived in a community where everyone believed the same things than i would not have ended up so alone in my thoughts.
there seems to a current struggle on the planet and who to believe, a leader, a dictator, a government or even you nieghbor or relative. i am not perfect but again have yet to find another whom one can trust without lies and deception.
dont get me wrong, i love G-d for showing me the difference of the truth or what we were meant to believe but i have come to conclusion as Moses did when coming down the mount only to smash the tablets.

found the well spring I found the well spring but I find it difficult to keep it found which is my question. Manipulative, aggressive, many different behaviors or hang ups mask the well spring. How does one keep the focus on the wellspring and be responsive to the superficial qualities of the person? How does one stay with the well spring of the other and stand up for their human rights simultaeneously? Is it my fear of losing my face that is a problem? Is it my faith? It is hard to let yourself feel like you are taking a beating, being looked down upon and continue to see the wellspring in the other. Perhaps it is misinterpretations or thoughtlessness but how to address ithe ignorance and keep the well spring in mindis my challenge? Reply
Buried Treasure On the surface are exposed all our desires for pleasure in this world. We chase after them relentlessly. These desires distract us from the G_dly desire - the desire to seek the ultimate desire - the desire to discover G_d so that His Light of truth and wisdom can fill us!
When you are motivated to reveal His world, the G_dly spark will awaken. This buried treasure within you, will be the key to a wonderful world beyond your current egoistic perception!
