The very fact you know about someone who is in trouble means that in some way you are able to help.
Otherwise, why would this knowledge have entered your world?

Dignity of independence Sometimes you have knowledge of a person who is capable of attaining the dignity of helping themselves. Some people are put in your midst who are continually depending on other to help them. The greatest help in this situation can often be, (even against their will and your will to help), to encourage them to develop the dignity of independence, rather than to continually feed them the bread of shame. Sometimes it requires us to understand that developing independence requires us to at times take a very firm stand. God forbid we fail to recognise when our help is truly needed. Reply
You can make a good positive prayer or physically help, but is the help you give welcomed or just scorned at? Can one really help if the help is ignored? Reply
Our World "why would this knowledge have entered your world"? To use our wisdom wisely by listening by means of communicating to heal each other as we're doing now healing with our knowledge with G-d. Reply
Where to go "We donate money to homeless shelters, so you go there and don't come around to our sanctuary making us look badly by you looking for a job, asking us to help you, and begging for money when we work hard to earn, don't squander our inheritance from our parents, and we pay taxes too for your worthless existence. We can raise stones for Father Abraham." I am so lucky to be free to see things from another perspective although the journey has been long and difficult, often with detours, dead ends, and sequesters. Go sit on your stones and see if what hatches. Goodwill is easier spread than shoveling a big barn full of manure on the Sabbath or any day. Reply
Part of the problem; part of the solution.
Which one is it going to be? We all need help from time to time finding the way back to the right path; leading others back.
What a blessing this gift of awareness!

sometimes is correct.
yes, sometimes is correct; many times I have wanted to help my sister, and found out that any help was very unwanted. I was advised, wisely, to stay out of it and just give her support when she needed it. And, I found other situations where there was a tremendous amount of people who ALL needed much help, and I was swamped by it, so I couldn't help anyone. Few of us are rich enough to aid EVERYONE in the United States, whose unemployed, homeless, jobless, and very poor.
I found people I knew, who needed help, were the best ones to give aid to, because I knew exactly what they needed, and how it would help. And I was able to in my financial range. Some of the worst charity situations I have seen now,are when celebrities or socialites, or the wealthy, go over to Africa, and want to help everyone over there, while they are ignoring all the unemployed, poor, homeless and desperate people right next to them in the United States!many of them do it because it is FASHIONABLE, not kind.

sometimes
sometimes you know a person is in trouble but they make it very clear that they do not want your help. you cannot force yourself on anybody. it backfires. sometimes you have to mind your own business.
Not everyone is blessed with helpful skills.
sometimes your help can only make matters worse.
sometimes our children are very direct with us : ' I am old enough to fight my own battles. "

Helpful Knowledge
AHA! This is a continuation of the Rebbe's thought as expressed in "Helping" [February 28, 2011.]
This does not say anything about "seeing good in him" in order to be helpful to him.
The Rebbe's words convey that just the fact you know someone is in trouble means you can be helpful.
This Daily Dose resolves the other question in my comment on 2-28-11.
Thank you!

sometimes sometimes you can know a person's and realize there is nothing that you can do, except, butt out. other times the person's trouble is beyond your help. In these cases you hep by doing nothing, not something, Reply

Knowing someone is in trouble I had not thought of this that way before. Thank you Reply
Pray to this someone in trouble.
Pray to him as if praying to yourself and as if praying to all Israel.
Pray for Justice to prevail and for the Will of G-d to be fulfilled.
Pray to G-d to forgive his sins and therefore the sins of Israel.
Pray to G-d to teach him His ways and to not let him fall anymore.
Pray with all your strength for Israel to correct their path once and for all ,in order to serve Him in peace.
Pray to all Israel, including this someone in trouble.

yeah "sometimes", the reason we have that knowledge is because we experienced it, but that doesn't mean we are capable of helping those in needs at all times. I would say if you sense someone has a problem better to ask first.
