A sense of smallness doesn’t mean being everybody’s doormat.
In fact, just the opposite:
A sense of smallness is your gateway to infinite powers.

Nothingness I believe that we hold so tightly to the thoughts in our heads that when we release them our Creator can show us the Wonders of His Creation and we no longer have our petty concerns, thereby reducing ourselves to nothing. Reply
Nothingness - Connecting on G_d's terms What we have to annul in order to connect with G_d is our egoistic self-love, self-absrption. To enter the spiritual domain, we need to let go of your self in order to feel other's desire to rise to His domain. Then together we will feel His Presence and be allowed to enter His Domain. Reply
do you mean that in respect to G-d...that we ARE nothing; but in being that 'nothinginess', (i.e, humble) we do not need to be a doormat, or less... in other humans eyes to maintain a certain amount of His holiness? am I confused, or not??? Reply
Thank you Rabbi Freeman.I welcome your thoughts & teachings every morning.! T believe as a Jew we are all "empty vessels" waiting to receive from HaShem. Blessings, Aviva Reply
nothing
Thank you Rabbi Tzvi
I can understand nothingness in the sense that you are using it to mean that G-D creates the universe from nothing at every moment.
Other than that however there is no such thing as nothing and I still feel uncomfortable striving for a sense of nothing.
I guess its just semantics.

For Ezra A sense of nothingness simply means realizing how tiny you are before the Infinite Creator who brings you into existence at every moment. Reply
"Sense of Nothingness" This is so hard to understand - how is a sense of nothingness a gateway to infinite powers? Reply
sense of nothingness
Maybe this is a matter of semantics but I don't like the idea of a sense of nothingness.
I believe that there is no such thing as nothing simply because nothing is nothing and nothing else.
In other words nothing defines itself out of existence.
I would suggest terms such as serenity, peacefulness, nulification, calm etc.
Those terms mean something, not nothing.
Again...there is no such thing as nothing since nothing defines itself out of existence.
