We are all prisoners. But we sit on the keys.
Finitude is our cell.
The universe is our prison.
Our jailkeeper is the act of being.
The keys to our freedom are clenched tightly in the fists of our own egos.

keys I would opine that you can't clench the keys of liberation too tightly. Many locks have play in them. You might need to jiggle the keys in order to open the lock. This may take a bit of patience, and a few attempts. Reply

Sense Outside your Self We need to lift the restriction of serving/loving our self - we use our limited 5 senses to focus on satisfying our self/ego. To the extent we wish to connect in unconditional, mutual love of others, we will develop new senses which will open up a new Reality - an eternal world that is good and whole, where we exist not in my body but in a new 'body' called the common soul. This is the hard work ito exit your imprisonment in your limited world called Egypt Reply
Ego This one made me curious as to who inspired you-worked with you-and I now want to get your book-but back to this...I was told by a very interesting doctor-a psychiatrist-a Holocaust survivor who helped me in many ways that I did not have an ego and that because of my brilliance life would be torturesome-this is so interesting-you write "Our jailkeeper is the act of being" that means s/he controls our give and take.-AND! The keys to liberation are clenched tightly in the fists of our own egos. Of course...we should be doing things in moderation-that is unless we build up pressure by holding back what we need to do and say.-Thank you Reply
EGO I suppose each person will have a different view. In my opinion, we are prisoners of Governments. Those of us active for liberation & Global Peace & Justice are ignored. Some 'dumbed' by various means, blindly accept, similar to traditions, practiced based on falsehoods. Reply

i'm sorry but this makes existence sound negative.
the jailkeeper is the act of being?
so to be liberated we must NOT be?
but the creator has created us to be.
is it ego that calls the creation a prison?

ego Our own ego is filled with pride. We hold the keys to letting go of the pride and humbling ourselves before G-d. Only when we do this can we be free. Reply

Tzvi, please help... I was reading your book the the other night, it has developed into a tradition I do with guests ever since my visit to Crown Heights where it was done for me. Everyone picks a number and then we read them that part of the book. I let all my guests go first and funny enough they all didn't really "get it" at first, whatever it was I read, so I gave them explanations and examples until they really "got it." So, I went last and here is mine, but guess what? Unbelievable, this is the only one I don't "get", of course! It's the one I proabably need to undertsand since it's the one I don't "get." lol But noone else did either... so here I am pondering it for days understanding it's revelence to my current situation but not really clearly "getting it." Could you please help? Reply
Ego As we grown in age, due to culture, through our thoughts we create our own prison.
