The Ultimate Sacrifice

What I read, Moses says to Hashem if you can not forgive the people, then make it as if I were never born. Essentially saying to Hashem rewrite the Torah and strike my name from the record along with Israel, Isaac, and Abraham. Let your word be carried by another root and branch.
The reason Hashem did recant, was the love of his friend and the deal he had cut with him.
That friend was Abraham. Reply

The Torah and the people were interdependent. Can't have one without the other.
I don't think Moses chose one over the other. In asking forgiveness for the people Moses actually chose the Torah. He chose both. Reply

lesson Very sensible lesson. Who would think otherwise ? Reply

Anything else would have been uncivilized... Not blotting out his name would have been embarassing -- to have been associated with the preceding events and those who carried them out. After which, HaShem said that he would blot out the offending parties -- which he proceeds to do -- and disassociates Moshe from the perpetrators that way.

In short, the story carries on, Moshe is not erased from the book, and the offending parties were smitten -- not in a good way. Reply

Finding Moses in You Buried by layers of ego you find the quality of Moses within - The sensation of the Upper Force. This is the quality in which Moses resonated with his people as one amplified aspiration to connect with G_d. Reply

but what good are a people I think Moshe saw us as our potential and as our essence. The people who reverted to idolatry acted in ignorance and fear, not from yetzir harah. Like a loving parent sees their child, we are a work in progress. Let us always strive to live from our divine essence-yetzir hatov- and prove that Moshe made the right choice. Reply

Moses I do not know if I am alone in my wanting to know where Moses was buried and the reason how come we do not know? Will we ever know where he was buried?

Moses was one who carried our way to understand Hashem and he carried the instructions of how people can get along with Hashem's help.

What would knowing where he is buried do? Reply

but but what good are a people if there is no upright law? And what greater law is there than Torah? Reply

forgiveness Moses, a creation of G-d and the words of
G-d are still teaching us about the power of forgiveness. Where would humans be without the ability to forgive? The power of showing Moses willingness to give up Torah, if there is no forgiveness. Reply

Our Teacher Moshe response was not a question; it was a statement. He was not asking G-d. He spoke with the understanding of the Torah he had just received: that in its essence must be forgiveness.
Then further: as every letter of the Torah is a Jewish soul, the first tablets brought by Moshe from Sinai, like the Jewish people, were made a broken vessel that could be rectified. Moshe's actions reflected the Torah he had just received. Reply
