They will give half a shekel in holy shekels, which is twenty gerah to a shekel, half a shekel. (Exodus 30:13)

If a shekel is twenty gerah, and you have to give half, the simplest thing to say is, “Give ten gerah.”

Why the need to emphasize again and again that this is only a half?

And indeed, a half shekel is also called a beka. Even simpler would be to say ”Give one beka.”

But if you want to reconnect to G‑d, the first thing you need to know is that, as long as you are disconnected, you are only half a being.

Because you have a divine soul, and a divine soul comprises ten divine powers within a human form.

And above, there are ten divine powers of G‑d by which He relates to us and directs our world.

Your ten receive from His ten, and His ten shine in this world through your ten.

So that a divine soul below without G‑d above is only half a being.

Only when you connect your half below, all your ten powers to the ten of G‑d above, only then are you whole.
