Three ways your soul is similar to the lights of Chanukah:

A flame, like your soul, strives constantly upward, seeking to abandon itself for a higher existence.

This struggle of the flame provides the world light and warmth only because a wick holds it in place—as your body holds your soul.

The flame is sustained by a constant supply of fuel. The light of your soul is sustained through mitzvahs and acts of kindness.

The candle flame dances both in the daylight and the dark of night. Glowing and flickering amidst G d’s environment; it shines brightly against our window panes and even penetrates straight into our spirits. We begin to feel warm and comforted as if G d was holding us tight within his arms, whispering into our minds to have no fear since our protector is near. Our souls much like the candle flame are constantly striving to send flickers of light spreading over both G d’s earth and upward toward his heavenly home to bring even the smallest amount of comfort turning places of darkness into areas of light.
