Don’t fear the question. Savor it. If the question will become your own, then the answer will as well.
Yes, we must do what is right even when we don’t understand. But after we have done, we still must understand. And understanding comes only with questions.
Questions are also part of the truth.
There is a kind of formality within the orthodox Jewish community, which tends to inhibit the asking of the many questions from less orthodox sources. This is because the person who asks knows that such questions would cause embarrassment to his more strictly orthodox colleague. For example it seems to me that there is difficulty in distinguishing between good and evil. We are cautioned to suppress evil thoughts by the Rabbis, yet some of these thoughts give many of us such pleasure that in the absolute sense they cannot be evil as well, since the pursuit of happiness is one major purpose in our being alive. In particular sexual fantasy is labeled out for this criticism, but without this ability we would surely be in a very formal situation when it comes to practice of what doctors regard as good family relationships between husband and wife. No question is ever too small or too simple or even too complex to seek out a possible answer to. But sometimes logic points out, we shouldn’t demand the answer to a question unless we already have the answer. However, pursuing one answer to a question almost seems to lead into pursuance of another answer to the same question. Leaving the mind to ponder two answers to the question that actually may lead directly to a more workable solution. While it opens the door to truth that sheds light along the pathway of many questions and answers taking our minds upon a journey in time and space. Reply
Emet When I hear this message I hear, "The Truth." It is freeing to read that is productive to have the desire to have understanding. It is okay to do halacha without having 100% understanding. I have eaten the fruit of "do then know" walking within "The Torah." It is beautiful to see that all good things created to be done by Israel, will be done with complete understanding, One Day. Reply

I know that this is somewhat ignorant, (and I may know the answer), however; Do you not write 'God's' name (Iknow that is only his English name) as "G-d' because you are being more reverent of His Holy name? There are a lot of questions in my mind, but I don't know where to start. I think life is such a miracle and hopefully space will give me the right time to ask and to recognize the answer. Maybe I just have to allow myself to return to my inner depths, to immerse into fully life again.
