Rabbi Freeman,
Just wanted to tell you, that with the series you've been doing on marriage here in your "daily dose" column, my husband has been e-mailing them to me early every morning and he does it because he "means it" (his words), thanks so much for enhancing an already lovely shalom bayis status we have here (bli ayin hara)! Hope it lifts up every other married couples' shalom bayis, as well!

I notice that the "daily dose" these days is devoted exclusively to marital problems. I imagine that is because shalom bayit is a great concern in this times. But shalom bayit is not an isolated problem. Rather it is one that becomes exacerbated when there is a lack of general vision and inspiration, when people have lost the sense of where they are going. So I would urge that at least every other post should address the need for vision and creativity in meeting the challenges of these times. Reply
How about honoring one's wife "l'ishma" ( for its own sake) rather than as a means to make her husband wealthy???? Reply
Respect and Love our wives How we treat our wife is how we want Hashem to treat us. It is all in our hands. Overlook what we perceive as faults in our wife and Hashem overlooks our faults. Never criticize our wife and Hashem will never criticizes us. Baruch Hashem! Reply

The wife is an echo. If your words, thoughts and deeds announce your disdain, contempt will be your reply.
If your words, thoughts and deeds anounce your love and appreciation, much
Nachas will be your reply.

honor your wife This task would be easier if certain wives could show respect towards their husbands. Reply

I know a few too many friends and lawyers who were involved in divorces. Needless to say, there is an assortment of ' Chachkas ' out there.
Of course none of these characters are Chabad. But even Chabad knows that in some cases you must run away from some wives, and likewise the reverse is true.
So, personally, i am happy with the sages words. But outside Chabad circles they are true about 50 % of the time. Even at that, if you are getting taken to the cleaners, it doesn't cost any extra to honor your spouse at the same time.

ZOHAR Tazria 30 : 34. ...Even though Abraham was sin-fearing, he did not count on his own merit and did not wish the Holy One, blessed be He, to deduct from his merit, but on his wife's merit, that through her he will gain money from other nations. For man attains money through his wife, as written, "House and riches are the inheritance of fathers, but a prudent wife is from Hashem" (Mishlei 19:14). Whoever merits a prudent wife merits everything. It is also written, "The heart of her husband safely trusts in her, and he shall have no lack of gain" (Mishlei 31:11). Reply
Series on marital issues We've got one more week of doses on marriage—and then we go on to children. As you'll see, it fits with the parshah.
