Without Measure A desire to help anyone in need should come naturally from the heart. At the moment of need. It should be a voluntary act . Without thinking consequences or prices. If not do not do it. Reply

Instinctive Calculation It is our given nature to unconciously, instinctively 'measure' the deed we select - We are programmed in ego mode - we will automatically make a calculation to choose the deed that benefits us most.
We need to effort ourself to rise above this force. Reply

measure Mitzvahs are good. A mitzvah is good. No such word as "good er " must be a reason wouldn't one think. Reply

without measure We all should be so lucky to have so many opportunities to good every day. Isn't that "mitzvah" without measure itself? Reply

if not now, when? do not put off doing a small kindness because you are planning to do a greater one; take every opportunity to serve others and to serve G-d as it presents itself. Reply

Can I take this to mean that what I do NOW is potentialy more important than anything that I have done in the past, simply because it is what I need to do now (and it can effect both present & furture) ?

Good Deeds This reminds me of the credo of AA..."do the next right thing". Isn't that all rightoeos is? Doing the right deeds G-d puts before us as He enables us to do them. Reply

question Please, can you explain how this can apply to my daily life? There are so many instances where seemingly a calculation needs to be made when one feels like they can't do "everything" that comes their way.

I know that everything that the Rebbe says is a practical life lesson, this one is just hard for me to fully understand. Reply
