The Rebbe was giving worthy advice not theology . Indeed, Judaism doesn't have theology because as is explained in the Shma: H' is one. They key message here is cooperation with one another rather than love per se. Yet, being human, instead of cooperation we tend to compete and compare. leading to disharmony, fracture and wars. What to do to avoid this result? First, fix your own house, then help your neigbors, and try to see the best in everyone- except those who want to kill you. If in time, we can achieve unity then we a will be doing H's will.
I don't see this happening with so many fractures in the Jewish world : we have to put our own house in order, and this is very difficult, we definitely do not have the same goals! Divisions kill unity but if we throw that theology away we might reunite and grow to better goals and love H' better. While I trust H' guidance, historically, we Jews have not achieve this. Can we? The message of the Rebbe is a challenge to us ! Reply

Your daily wisdom is very inspiring but it still does not mean one can break G-d's laws because of rich philosophy. Reply

For the souls to be all one implies that our mind and hearts must all think and feel the same aspiration. We must feel as one connected being that strives to cooperate in harmony for peace and not for self-benefit.
Then we are also in tune with G_dliness.

In this egoistic level world we separate ourselves by our differences and desires for materialistic pleasures and profit.

The challenge to reach this sublime state comes from requiring us to rise above our egoistic demands and the differences for the sake of reaching the higher state of true love which brings us out of the exile which separates us from G_d.

Let's work at being one heart and one mind which aligns with G_d. Then the souls are all one. Reply

Does the lower soul and upper soul constitute a soul as a whole and how does that fit in with this undivided soul? I a bit confused with this one. Reply

This quote reminds me of what Saint Exupery wrote: love is not looking at each other but looking together in the same direction. Also Proverbs 27 verse 19: as water reflects the image of one’s face, so does the heart of man (reflects another’s heart) Reply

We erroneously identify with our bodies, not realizing that in actuality they are inert on their own. When the soul leaves the body it can never “do” anything again. In a way the body is the puppet, the soul the puppeteer. The soul is not separate from the One Self, aka G-d, the Creator and Ruler over all. As individuals we are here to learn, to work our way out of the seeming morass which is the domain of the serpent. Just look at the confusing mess we are in at the moment. It seems to be doomsday. All these bodies stumbling around looking for a way out. But the only way is to connect with the One Self, aka G-d. This connection is brought about by Emuna.

This is not necessarily a religious thing, but an individually designed schooling whereby all learn to let go of personal desires which are never actually fulfilled the way we dreamed. The only fulfillment comes when we learn to submit to the “One”, who orchestrates everything. That is what it was like in Gan Eden. Reply

I disagree. G-d made us from dust. Without a body you cannot touch, speak, listen, smile, work, move. Dance! I think we should not separate those entities; they are one. Reply

I would really do seek to place the spirit (and soul) before the body, yet somehow i don't seem to be able to achieve this. This is because although I can control my body yet I do not have a means of communicating with these more ethereal parts.

Of course I am aware that they must be there somewhere, but when it comes to a particular activity they do not seem to respond in any way, nor have they made any comment or response--not even through my conscience, which is a guide but not a controlling or critical force field.

And as for love--surely that requires an object to love and with the notable exception of the whole world (as a writer I sometimes use the pseudo-name "Macrocompassion"), love seems to have passed me by. Reply

G_d's Love Egoistic love is not 'True Love'.
Egoistic 'love' is experienced as our uncorrected desires. These desires direct us to love others for what they can add to please our desire for self benefit.
Self-benefit separates us to the extent of causing harm to others.
Self-love rejects those that are different from us in terms of opinion, race, nation and color.

We can only rise above our egoistic desires when we aim towards a Higher desire. A desire to connect with G_d.
To rise above this powerful egoistic force that dominates our desires, we need to counteract it. To do this we find that one special feeling G_d planted deep within each of us to connect with Him. When we join together in a group with one heart to connect and feel His Love, we generate a power within that rises us above our egoistic force that separates us.

In that special power we generate, we feel True Love, G_d's presence! Reply

Without the soul the body is nothing; it’s a hollow shell! The soul is the diamond housed within the body causing the body to sparkle with love and laughter and to feel pain and comfort and to express sadness and joy. When we speak of our soul and how it should be nurtured with positive thoughts, prayers that reach G d’s throne of glory, we’re not just talking about various methods of faith and belief in a higher power. We’re speaking about two different areas that hold all mankind together. The body can’t survive without the soul and the soul can’t survive without the body. Both need each other while they walk hand and hand on this G d given earth. Yes, we should keep our bodies healthy with good food, exercise and clean living, but no matter how fit or healthy that body is or how attractive it becomes it still can’t survive in a pleasing state without beholding at least a decent soul that’s able to move forward learning and growing each day the body is breathing. Behind the Facade Behind the illusionary matter of everything exists just 2 forces - a giving force (our earthbound quality) and a receiving force (G_d's spiritual world quality).

Our mission is to transform ourselves into the spiritual beings. Then we develop our soul and there is no need for the body matter anymore. We will all be as one spirit in 'true love' in one system united with G_d. Reply
