Make a part of your life an act that takes you beyond your bounds—
helping people that are not part of your family or circle of friends,
doing something that does not fit within your own self-definition.
Escape yourself.

no wonder the strange looks -- maybe i'm an escape artist and constantly redefining myself! it's the only way to live for me!
for instance, recently attended a large surprise party.
with quite a variety of people, the same ones only talked with the same people, as usual; while others/strangers to the rest, were scattered about. gosh, i enjoyed meeting and spending time with them! escape (in a good way) can be an enlightening adventure

Make a part of your life an act that takes you beyond your bounds! I just saw this Chabad message and I am going to make a suggestion that fits the suggestion! Friday morning I will be sitting in a chair and donating 3 units of platelets (a particular part of whole blood). This mitzvah is an excellent one in the fact that the donor and receiver will never know each other. It also, very often, is the difference between life and death for a patient. May I suggest that Chabad members maybe have a blood drive sometime! In this case particularly, "it is better to give than to receive"! Reply

Escape I live in an apartment in a bldg that is well stocked with busy-body nurses who look in on you all the time. This can get frustrating when you have been depressed and probably want to stay that way due to having a sister who has Multiple Sclerosis and is showing signs of breaking down. The activies coodinator here took me aside and told me that I needed to start my old job up of working with the Alzheimer's patients again-drawing a picture they could paint and teaching them about mixing color-. I thought about this when I read about your daily dose thus I commented. I get so involved with my sister that doing this volunteer job again will actually help me.-Thank you for writing this. Reply
When I do this, my circle of friends widens, my experiences deepen, and my self-definition expands. Profound thought for my life. Thank you.
