Where do I belong?
With whom do I belong?
Certainly with my family
But the children are grown
and the relatives are
dispersed or gone...
Where do I belong?
With friends who already belong somewhere
with someone?
Where do I belong in this world?
Do I live to feel that I belong?
Without a sense of who I am or where I should be
There is no place to rest.
So I ask,
Where do I belong?
And the only answer I can find
is I am a Jew
and I belong to Hashem
He has chosen for me
a place to live
a husband to love
with children who grow
and friends to cherish
and people who need me
to help them know that they,
too, belong.
Melody Masha Pierson is a 51-year-old Jewish woman in Montreal, and member of the Chabad Montreal Torah Centre. She is the happy and grateful recipient of a new pair of lungs following a double lung transplant. It was her writing and Torah learning that provided her with the strength and faith to stay positive and productive through her challenging time. Melody can be heard weekly on Montreal's Radio Shalom.

Where Do I Belong
Melody:
Thank you for sharing the same feelings that I sometimes have and of reminding me of what I do have and B"H how fortunate I am to be able to share my life with my wonderful husband, children and grandchildren and my dear friends who are family also. I am needed and I need these people also in my life. May G-d bless you and your family.
