Logic alone can't explain enough of creation to remove my wonder that creation is beyond remarkable to the extent that everything can be reduced to mere equations where scientists find answers in juggling zeros, as if the greater the amount of numbers is all one needs for a feeling of completeness in life. Some things are true by mere observation; no logic needed. Reply

I remember wondering, as a child, why anything should exist. It's interesting that the mind of a child could ponder such a philosophical question. Perhaps G-d instills such thoughts in us to guide us to the conclusion that He created us for a purpose. Perhaps when we ask ourselves why anything exists, G-d triumphantly responds: "Exactly!" Reply
To Anonymous in NY, NY Will you please tell us (me) who Cramer or Kramer of the Mathematic rule really is in the Jewish world? I am thinking about it, but the time period for Switzerland throws me off. If a Jew, he and his parents would probably not have been in (or much welcomed in) Geneva at the time he and his parents lived unless he was 'passing' as Christian. Purpose If mankind knew the motivation, purpose and intellectual creativity of HaShem, it would be inevitable that some of mankind would seek to destroy everything good and pure. Therefore, the least some know the better, as a little knowledge makes them dangerous. Let us patiently await the Messiah, then all will be revealed. Reply

Hmm... I was surprised at the curtness of some comments. I may be "childlike" as one commenter added, but... "Does anyone have a good reason why there should be anything at all?" There are scientific reasons, because the Creator is the great scientist, and never told us not to ask questions.
Sometimes, I think we forget to be grateful that we woke up still breathing. Just because I'm breathing today, doesn't mean tomorrow my body will behave the same way.
I think this is a wonderful contmeplation, worthy of reposting and sharing.

miracles If one were to ask a physicist or DNA expert why gravity or reproduction,etc follows laws ,they would probably be able to make a great contribution to explaining these miracles as logical, mathematically programmed happenings. There are many fields of knowledge, which we never had thousands of years ago, that can help us to understand how order can come out of chaos if we want to investigate them..But it is unusual for men of great Jewish learning to invesigate them;.It is almost as if they think they will be seen as heratics. We might tell our childen the story of Noah to explain a rainbow but we modern folk know that really there is a scientific explanation for this phenomenon. By closing our eyes to science we keep ourselves like children. Reply
Absolute: Moshiach cannot come on Friday. Right? He's not supposed to come at a time which interferes with our holiday preparation. Now, if, most of us are done with our cleaning and really Pesach isn't until a few days from then, maybe he could come. There are some absolutes. Should I demand absolutes? When I think about the configuration of the universe and the placement of earth in the Milky Way Galaxy, humanity and it's history especially as it extends to specific ethnicities, cultures, religions, the cruel mindset of some societies and its leaders, the evolution of languages, and archelogical and scientific discoveries; TO EXIST, in itself, IS A MIRACLE!
