This was an attack against every Jewish man, woman, and child. All of our mitzvahs are needed.
All those who have been privileged to risk their lives in defense of the Jewish nation are pure, righteous souls.

Sad but true. Wars, pogroms, internal disputes, assimilation make the main body of us Jews eternally strong. This culling process is in the nature of things. This process is evident to all, from chicken farmers to Malthus. Leaves and branches of the Jewish tree, wither and fall but the trunk retains its strength and grows new branches and leaves adapted to changing circumstances by the Hegelian process.
To borrow an expression, the message from above is clear: Hold to His unchanging hand or in mamaloshen:
