Hillel would say, “Be of the disciples of Aaron. Love peace. Chase after peace. Love all those that G‑d created, and draw them towards the Torah.” —Mishnah Avot
Hillel seems to tell us that we must love others in order to draw them to G‑d and Torah.
But that cannot be so. Because conditional love is not true love. True love has no agenda.
Rather, Hillel wants you to love the true essence of every human being, and that is the divine spark within them.
When you love people in this way, you will awaken that spark from its profound slumber.
As the divine seeks the divine, so they will be pulled as a matter of course towards G‑d and His Torah.

Within everybody is a small spark of divine love. This spark is buried beneath the dominant ego force that only loves another to satisfy their needs.
If we connect in unconditional love with another, we awaken their spark. This true connection attracts this same quality that G_d surrounds us with. In this way G_d's light fills the gap, the breakage, between us. We become as one soul.
In this way we add more fragments to the broken soul until we are whole again. The light will radiate to others who will be pulled to join the flame. Peace reigns between us.
