I received your letter of the 3rd of Menachem Av. Mazel Tov on the birth of a son to your sister, Mrs. Batsman. I trust you will continue to use your good influence over your sister in her affairs, that everything should be in accordance with the Torah and Mitzvoth, all the more so since your sister and brother-in-law have been enjoying G‑d's blessings.

I will also remember in prayer your mother, and I hope that you will have good news to report.

Though we are in the sad part of the beginning of Menachem Av, may G‑d's promise soon be fulfilled that these days will be converted into days of gladness and joy.
