Sholom uBrocho:

I am in receipt of your letter of 18th of Tammuz, in which you write about the difficulties which have developed in your partnership, and the proposition of going into business with a new partner.

Generally speaking, a decision in such a matter depends on various details, which makes it difficult to give advice from a distance. But one of the essential consideration[s] is that the partner should be a person with whom it is not difficult to get along.

I also wish to add another point which has an important bearing on your situation. I refer to the basis of all blessings - sholom. So important is it, that the whole Shass concludes with the statement that sholom is the vessel which contains G‑d's blessings. It is particularly related to one's Parnosso, especially when there are difficulties. To remedy the situation, it is necessary to widen the whole area of Sholom in one's relationship with people in general, and in the matter of Sholom-Bayis especially.

As for the other anxieties about which you write with discouragement, etc., this is the doing of the Yetzer whose job it is to undermine a person's confidence and wellbeing, spiritually and materially. To a person of your background it is surely unnecessary to emphasize this at great length. It is necessary, however, to bear in mind the well-known and established principle: "As water reflects the face, so does one heart respond to another." This is true not only in personal relationships, but also in matters of general outlook:
אז דו וועסיז קוקן אנדערש וועסטו זען אנדערש

With blessing for Improved Parnosso and good tidings,

M. Schneerson
