Greeting and Blessing:
I was pleased to receive your letter of the 8th of Tammuz, in which you describe your wedding, that it was a real Jewish marriage, which left a deep impression on the families of both sides, with evident results of inspiring them to increased Jewish observance.
Inasmuch as a Jewish marriage is called an, "Everlasting Edifice," as is the text in the blessings recited under the Chuppah, and this edifice is set up on the day of marriage, I trust that this will be so in your case, and that you will be truly happy, materially and spiritually, all your lifes.
I hope, as in the past, you will continue to maintain close contact with Rabbi Gurkow and his circle of friends, which will be a source of inspiration to you and will increase your success in all your affairs.
Once again I send you my prayerful wishes for Mazel Tov, Mazel Tov, coupled with the blessing of the Day of Deliverance (12-13 of Tammuz) of my father-in-law of saintly memory. I trust that you know something about the importance of these days, and will also participate In the вреcial Chassidic gathering which will observe this historic occasion in true Chassidic fashion, which means increased inspiration and devotion in matters of Torah and Mitzvoth, and the Chassidic way of life.
With blessing,
M. Schneerson
In reference to your P.S., in which you write that you would like to do something for me, you can do a great deal more than "something," namely:
As you know, one of the main objectives of our work is to strengthen and disseminate real Yiddishkeit among Jews everywhere. Experience has shown that whatever can be achieved through propaganda, and all kinds of effort, infinitely more can be achieved through living examples. By this I mean that when we can point to people who conduct their lives in accordance with the true Jewish way, despite difficulties that might sometimes arise, and they do so with pride and happiness, which not only pervades their inner being, but also inspires others; especially when we can point to young people who begin their married life and set up a true Jewish home, serving as living examples to others — this is worth a great deal more than any amount of preaching and propaganda. Therefore, when you will so conduct your life, and will continue to advance and rise along this path of the Torah and Mitzvoth, with Chassidic inspiration and vitality, you will be a great help to me in my work, which covers also England, and your immediate environment.
May G‑d help that you always fulfill the injunction "Serve G‑d with joy.”
