Greetings and blessings,

In reply to your letter in which you ask for a blessing for your son ... who is serving in the army:1

I would ask you to write to your son and tell him to be very careful to put on tefillin every day. [Also,] send him the enclosed message from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe,2 [and] also write me his mother’s name. May G‑d protect your son and enable him to return home healthy.

I would be interested to know if there are public Torah study sessions in your synagogue, if there is a minyan there every day, and if Tehillim arerecited after prayers every day in the morning.

Enclosed is a receipt for the money that you sent. Lishkas chasha’im3 is the fund established by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, to help people who are ashamed to accept charity publicly.

Our work in North Africa has begun according to the directives of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, which he gave before his passing. In that place, there are already a yeshivah gedolah,4 a yeshivah ketanah,5 a teacher’s institute, talmudei torah for boys,6 schools for girls, evening classes, etc.

These efforts have just now begun and large sums are necessary to continue it. G‑d will help [all the donors] with success.

With blessing and with greetings to all the congregants,
