Greetings and blessings,
I was happy to be informed that your situation continues to improve. Certainly, G‑d will send you a speedy recovery.
In response to the report given yesterday by your wife, the Rebbitzin, that you are not sleeping well: You should divert your attention from this entirely and not worry about it, since you are undoubtedly following the relevant directives from the doctors.
It would be appropriate that you have a kosher mezuzah near your bed (not necessarily affixed to the door).1 Obviously, if it is necessary, it should be placed in a container within a container, or the like.2
Since I am aware of the dearness with which you hold the master’s words, I will mention what I heard from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe: that some of the Rebbeim (I am almost certain that he mentioned the Rebbe Maharash) would have a note placed on their table on which it was written:3 “I have placed G‑d before me at all times.” Certainly, you noticed that a mezuzah was present on the table on which my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, would write and study.
Note Keilim 17:16 that [there were Sages who] would carry a mezuzah in a walking stick. See the gloss of Tosafos Yom Tov [to that mishnah].4
With hopes to hear only good news from you at all times. Closing with blessings for a speedy recovery,
Menachem Schneerson
