Greetings and blessings,

Pursuant to my previous letter and in response to your reply, enclosed is a receipt for the sum donated to maamad1 by your congregation at the festive meal of Yud-Tes Kislev. Please give greetings and blessings to all those who participated in this feast associated with a mitzvah.

On the verse:2 “You shall certainly tithe,” the Talmud (Taanis 9a) states: “Tithe so that you become wealthy.” This is so clear a theme that the Holy One, blessed be He, says: [Malachi 3:10, as cited by Taanis, op. cit.] “Test Me in this matter.” Thus I am certain that your participation in this charity will serve as a channel to draw down all forms of good, as the verse continues:3 “I will pour out blessing upon you without limits.”

With blessings for you and all the participants of the feast of the festival of festivals, Yud-Tes Kislev,

Menachem Schneerson
