still want to do the mitzvah I want to do the mitzvah of separating & doing the bracha but I never make more than 12 cups, usually only 6. I know it's not enough but what's the halachah?
isnt 3lb 11oz with bracha, and 2lb 11oz without? thanks
how to do this mitzvah
To Irene--nowadays, we simply do not use the challah, so it would be burnt and then discarded.
Here is a real short article that explain the basics of this wonderful mitzvah: The Separation of "Challah"
And here is a little more in-depth, step-by-step Challah Wizard
Enjoy those home-made loaves--while you bring your Creator right into your home!
That was so good to hear. I love making challah every week and my family loves eating it. Bringing that process into the spiritual realm with giving God a piece, makes it so special. I only found out about this from your videos on baking challah. Thank you. I wish more people knew about this mitzvah.
Kneading G-d in Creation This is a very inspiring teaching, but what or how do you give a loaf of challah to G-d today? Maybe I missed something. I would appreciate hearing from you on this matter.
burning the challah piece makes sense but what is discarding? trash? oiy
