The Talmud relates that King David and his general, Yoav Ben Tzeruya, supplemented each other. David was immersed in the study of Torah, while Yoav went out to battle. If not for the merit of David’s Torah, Yoav would not have been victorious in his wars, and if not for Yoav’s battles, David would not have had the ability to study Torah. Today, the bravery and sacrifice of Israel’s soldiers on the front lines will continue to meet success when bolstered and secured by their “spiritual supply corps” – the Torah study of the “support troops” back home. For the Torah is our deed of ownership to the Holy Land. This partnership will keep the military miracles coming. |

Is understanble that Torah can affect the results of an army victory but I'm not agree completely. King David couldn't build the temple and was his son King Solomon who did it precisely because he was in battle deals. Specially, when there's times of danger the protection needed is more and the percentage of population dealing with Torah and battle should be considered.

It is unfortunate that many fail to appreciate the bricklayers for our existence. There is no Jewish identity without the yeshiva. When a boy’s mind is concentrated upon the Atziluth, Beri'ah, and Yetzirah, it would be difficult for him to provide the same momentum within Assiah . It would be better for such scholars to be kept compartmentalised, so that they may focus upon the revealed word, and draw down the light for victory. May Hashem bless us all.

We know where the Israeli soldiers are, in Israel of course, but where are these “spiritual supply corps” i.e. students of Torah? Are they only in Israel or can those engaged in Torah study elsewhere in the world be considered?

The all Jewish nation is like one big body, so it doesn’t matter where are we in the world we helping and affecting on each other, by learning our holy Torah, and keeping our commandments, (especially Teffilin)

Interesting take, although I always liked it when the religious Jews could serve in segregated religious units (Hesder) and I am sorry that these units no longer exist.

There was a recent Jerusalem Post story about a Haredi unit objecting to a female paramedic. Which is, in my opinion, the sort of situation it would be easy to avoid except in emergencies. Israel will work this out; the Haredi fought in 1948, and the percentage of Haredi women joining the Israeli military is already higher than that of the Haredi men.
