Disc 15, Program 58
Event Date: 18 Tishrei 5741 - September 28, 1980
Every Jewish child is a soldier in “Tzivos Hashem – G-d’s Army.” He or she is given the strength to overpower his own evil inclination. But success in this mission depends on careful adherence to the army’s basic rules of conduct. In an army one must follow orders. Along with the privilege of being in Hashem’s service, comes the duty to carry out His orders without hesitation. A Jew relies on the infinite knowledge of G-d and executes His plan unquestioningly. Only later does he attempt to comprehend G-d’s wisdom. One soldier’s discipline can determine the mission’s success, while another’s lack of obedience can jeopardize the entire front. Only the Commander-in-Chief – G-d Himself – knows which strategy will benefit both the individual and the group as a whole. Our task is to follow His orders properly, but joyously, knowing that He is always right beside us. |
