Jewish girls are equal members in Tzivos Hashem. Even though in Torah the “army” is not a place for women, when it comes to a battle of life and death – and the battle against the evil inclination is a battle of survival – the law is different. In that case, even a bride must go from her wedding to take part. The key to victory is explained by the Sages regarding the Giving of the Torah: “I created the evil inclination; I created Torah as the antidote” – Torah study is the Jew’s weapon against the evil inclination. And we find by the Giving of the Torah not only that the women were equal to the men, but even more so: G-d commanded Moses to speak to the women first. Jewish girls must know the great merit they have – not only for themselves and their friends, but that they also pave the way for the boys to accomplish what they have to. Nowadays, a large portion of Jewish education is in the hands of women and girls, who educate and guide Jewish children, including boys, in the study of Torah and fulfillment of Mitzvos. It is they who are preparing “G-d’s Legions,” the children, to greet Moshiach. |
