I was pleased to receive your letter from 2 Shevat, after a long break.

I hope that the fact that you didn’t write about your personal matters is a sign that all is serene with you and your family.

True serenity, which is connected with true peace of mind, can only be attained by a person if he doesn’t remain in one place and situation; rather, he must constantly be advancing, as our Sages have said, “One ascends in holiness.” If this applies everywhere, how much more would it apply in the land that is called “the Holy land,” even by all the nations of the world.
