Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- About 1/8 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tbsp. butter, softened
Directions:
In a 2-quart saucepan, combine the sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg. Add the eggs and mix well. Stir in the milk, a little at a time, until all of it is mixed in. Cook over a medium-low flame, stirring constantly. When the mixture has thickened to a custard consistency, remove from the flame and stir for a few more seconds. Stir in the vanilla and butter until smooth.
