Chapter Three - Part 1: The Five Factors That Obligate Trust in G-d

In the first part of this chapter, the author lists and elaborates five concepts that a person must understand properly and believe fully in order to have proper trust in G‑d.

He then offers two reasons as to why G‑d wants a person to make his own efforts to obtain his livelihood, and how truly righteous people are the exception to this rule and are, generally speaking, not required to make these efforts.

The next part of the chapter explains how this tenet fits in with reality as we know it, where we see that righteous people do go through much hardship in order to obtain their livelihood, as well as why many wicked people have easy and pleasant lives.

The end of the chapter discusses the ways in which a person should go about choosing an occupation as well as the attitude he should adopt while involved in his occupation.
