Lime or limestome Dear Rabbi Gordon,
You used the terms "lime" and "limestone" interchangeably during the discussion of the last three halachas of this chapter. However, they are very different things. Which one did you mean?

Lime is from limestone.
Lime, or calcium oxide (CaO), is derived from high quality natural deposits of limestone, or calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Lime is produced when limestone is subjected to extreme heat, changing calcium carbonate to calcium oxide.
