Yes, you are correct. What I meant to say was we cannot utilize our reliance on G-d as an excuse to be inactive. We must do everything we can in the realm of nature as well.
For example, when someone approaches us for a charitable contribution, why give charity? Let's just tell him, "G-d will provide." The answer is, we have to partner with Hashem and be very proactive in our service of Hashem. Case in point, we have to bring our own “flame” even thought we are certain that G-d will bring fire as well. Our reliance on G-d should not cause our inactivity.

I am purposely attempting to say this discretely, that you mentioned (around 38 mins) something about G-d that doesn't seem to fit with my understanding, and I truly believe that what *was* conveyed to my mind was not what you meant to convey. Mishlei 3:5 says something that would indicate, in fact, the exact opposite. I do believe I just misunderstood, and I very much enjoy learning from you. Thank you for the work you are doing, and thank you for making it available for us.

Anyway to get the class sent to my email box? When we first got married my husband would travel from Bedminster NJ to Maplewood to daven and learn with Rabbi Gordon z"l. If I ever had any doubts about it listening to his son makes it clear to me why he had to. Would love to get the Chumash and Tanya Shiur emailed to me. everyday.
I so enjoy these classes. I would just like to point out that korban olah also atones. Whereas we may feel "what good does it do?" the fact is that we really have no concept of what it does to or for the person bringing it, never having experienced it ourselves. As we tell people nowadays who have never kept shabbos - "ta'amu ur'u" - taste it yourself and you'll feel the delight - may we merit it soon in our days.
