I am excited to make this project with my 3rd graders in a few weeks. I think with a lot of care, and the sturdiest glasses I can find, that they can be successful. Does anyone have a good supplier for sturdy wine glasses that won't cost me a fortune? Reply

Since the cos shel eliahu is taller and bigger than the normal cups at your seder, I recommend using an ordinary wineglass (assuming you're doing it Mrs. Wolin's way) for your Eli's Cup and shot glasses for your normal cups. They can be found at any tourist shop (if you don't mind that they say things like New York City, Washington, DC, or Paris on them.) However, the can also be found at Walmart, Target, or any other place that sells dishes. Reply

Sorry, but a shot glass is not large enough to be used for the four cups of wine at the Pesach Seder. According to halacha, the cup should hold at least a Revi'it of wine (approximately 3.5 ounces, though there is a range of opinions), and that one should drink at least a majority of the cup.

The wine from Eliyahu's Cup is not wasted, so feel free to use the largest, most beautiful glass or cup that you have. Many have the custom to use that wine for Kiddush the next day, while the Chabad custom is to pour the wine back into the bottle. Reply

Painted Elijah Cup Thanks for this great and easy craft project for our Passover Seder. My sister and I made this at our Women's Seder last night at the Alpert Jewish Community Center in Long Beach, California.
