Disc 130, Program 519
Event Date: 20 Av 5742 - August 09, 1982
The twentieth of Av marks the passing of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe’s father. Reflecting on the passing of a loved one is seldom joyous and often brings up feelings of sadness and even bitterness. Regarding sadness, the Tanya relates that it must be avoided at all costs, while a sense of bitterness is permitted. In fact, the Alter Rebbe writes that the latter can actually lead to positive results not only for those commemorating the event, but also for the soul of the departed. |
