I understood what the questions were and why the answers were true. WOW !!! Reply

Rabbi, Jewish divorces happen when the husband gives his wife a get. If the Sofer is competent to write a get, the husband has that get written specifically for his wife with the intention to divorce her, and the wife accepts the get, they are divorced. If either one decides to get remarried, a Beth Din should ascertain if the get was given properly, but beyond that, the Beth Din has no halachically mandated role. Love the quizzes, by the way Reply

Even on my IT Masters reviews, I had to retake sections on law. I need to take a specific course on this stuff! 6/10... barely passing is not the way to go through life! I'm not sure how relevant a lot of this information is, but it just shows to go you that you aren't as smart as you think! Thank you Rabbi - you really got me on this one! Reply

Thalia July 31, 2023

WOW !!! I mean WOW !!! I didn’t even expect this yet. 10/10 !!! Reply

Thalia July 31, 2023

WOW !!!! 6/10 again !!! Now that’s just carelessness. I knew answers but didn’t stop to consider. It’s my own rash fault. Reply

So often we are faced with our ubiquitous adversarial systems of secular law and customs leaving only losers and winners, without the counsel of Mothers all is lost in this mind set, leaving each a sense of "loss" when we didn't score high enough or well enough not only in the "eyes" of those who "train" us, but worse, in our own eyes.
I have come to Chabad to seek knowledge, therefore I come as one knowingly utterly ignorant of my Father's Fathers.... The readings that come with each explanation enrich me, and when willing, and more importantly, my understanding, and so too, does every comment left on these pages.
In appreciation I thank each of you for the Knowledge you offer so freely to one who was set "adrift" amongst those who knew and yet, did not know, and finding those who do know has been a life long joy, and now my joy increases with every "Quiz and explanation and every email I receive and every comment I read.
Yours in Service and Gratitude! Jaqui Adam Reply

Question 8 is truly ambiguous. It could be read "only a Beth Din in Israel", but no other entity in Israel (with emphasis on the word Beth Din), can perform conversions. The answer would be true. OR, it could be read "only a Beth Din in Israel," but no where else in the world (with emphasis on the word Israel) can perform conversions. The answer would then be false.
For your question and your answer, better phraseology perhaps would be "only in Israel may a Beth Din perform conversions". This phrasing would eliminate the ambiguity. Okay, even college professors can create ambiguity on their exams Reply

Love these quizzes and everything y’all do! Very blessed to have you all and all you do. Thank you and Moshiach now! :) Reply

Lauren Spector Bend July 28, 2023

7/10 I thought that only the Beit Din did conversions.

4/10. I had to guess on every one! Not an area I've spent much time learning, despite having been before a beit din once! Reply

Wow, I'd love to hear or read of your experience!

10 out of 10 - to easy for this "stranger", but a little challenging. Great stuff. Learning heaps as we go along. Thanks Rabbi Posner and your team. Shabbat Shalom. Reply

5/10 For this one I was only guessing, I really didn't have a clue, so I will do some reading about the matter. Thanks so much for the quizz

10/10. I guessed correctly on the zabla question. Reply

Rabbi Golomb July 29, 2023
in response to FY:

Zabla is an acronym for Ze Borer Lo Echad, which means 'this one chooses one', i.e., one side chooses a judge etc. I can reassure you that mist people would not have heard of this or some of the other questions. However Rabbi Posen likes to keep us on our toes Reply

Yitzhak Israel July 27, 2023

My apologies about my comments regarding question 8. I misread the question as "in Israel only a beth din...", which was not what was written. Of course, you are correct that the location of the bet din is irrelevant. Reply
