6/10 well we learn by our mistakes. I made four. I was going to take the test again, but I thought that it would be cheating. Reply

This is great, I'm glad to find tat there are other Christians who participate in this. I'm also glad that someone pointed out why I missed the plague ? I couldn't believe I missed that, lol. Reply

I'm a Gentile Christian Zionist here & I LOVE this site & the Jewish People. This was the best I've done from all the quizzes I've answered so far! [9/10 right] [I feel happy about that] #10 is a trick question IMHO. My Bible only mentions 2 things that the Egyptians could copy & that was 'water to blood' & the staff of Moses turning into a snake. [When he did it in front of Pharaoh & his court] My answer would've been ''all of the above'' if that were a choice. TY for these wonderful quizzes. I love learning new things!. G-d bless you Rabbi, all others here & all Israel. I wish all of you a blessed Shabbat Shalom! Reply

in response to Stephanie Wilson:

Hi, I can and do say the same about myself, I also got 9 out of 10. I knew the answer to number 10 though it seems less likely that the first born male of every household would die in one night unless the blood of a lamb was seen on the doorposts and lintel I am a Gentile Christian Zionist that has always been interested in the Israelites, or Hebrews of The Bible. When we found out our grandfather was Jewish, we were stunned. Some of us were elated, to some it made no difference, and sadly to few it was bad news.
To me, it opens up an understanding of our family that was hidden most of my life. My grandfather was buried 20 years before we learned he was Jewish. It removed a fear from my life that I didn’t acknowledge; a fear of stepping on sacred ground, things I knew nothing about. It’s probably why I didn’t really take it to heart when I didn’t understand The Bible at any time. I tried to read it, but we heard parts of it on Sundays and in school. That seemed enough then. (Ouch!) Discounting quails is a bit harsh. Quails in the evening - Manna in the morning. Exodus 16:13 (But I'm not sure about sheep's liver . . .) Reply

S Washington March 16, 2023
in response to Austen:

Read the question carefully:
What fell from the sky for the Israelites to eat each morning?
Quails neither fell from the sky, nor came in the morning. Reply

!עשר
#6 almost got me. The serpent was made of bronze (as far as I had seen and found in the translation). I just guessed that 'copper' was written and turned out to be correct...
#10 is a bit of a misnomer. Sh 8 tells us "And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast." (sorry I only have an English translation in front of me at the moment). But it does absolutely make sense that the Egyptians could NOT replicate the last 'touch' - death of the firstborn of all issue throughout Egypt! Since there were no more "first-born" to be put down, I guess it could be that the Egyptian magicians would kill all the next in line. Reply

SULE OBOZUWA Lagos, Nigeria March 16, 2023

I scored 9/10, failing the 10th question with correct answer as Lice.

How is Death of firstborn a Miracle? Reply

Janet Clare Ma'ale Levona March 17, 2023
in response to SULE OBOZUWA:

Of the humans, only firstborn Egyptian males died, not Hebrews or others. I've heard scientific explanations that Egyptian firstborn got to sleep on pallets, "beds", while everyone else slept on the floor. Deadly fumes from a volcanic explosion killed those firstborn higher up, while others lower down safely slept. (Ignoring those who slept on their cooler roofs.)

The real catch is, however, that animal firstborn males were also killed. Some animals all sleep standing up, so the deadly fumes would have affected all, not just the firstborn. By the way, how do we know which animal of every the litter, for example, is the firstborn and a male? Only HaShem could know this in every case. An outright miracle

Jack Harpers Ferry, WV March 17, 2023
in response to Janet Clare:

According to some of the other sources, there were Israelites who did not make it out of Egypt. They either refused to take part in putting blood on their door posts, or just didn't believe that HaShem would, in fact, save them. It makes sense that, since the goal was for ALL Israelites to be out of Egypt, if they didn't participate in the passover, they would become its example. Reply

Selah South Africa March 16, 2023

The Egyptians could not replicate frogs and boils, either Reply

David Harold Chester Petach Tikva, Israel March 15, 2023

I am not sure that all 10 of these should be regarded a miracles. On the other hand there were several others that definitely were miracles but are not in the quiz. Reply

Jack Harpers Ferry, WV March 16, 2023
in response to David Harold Chester:

Our prayers every day include the declaration that we praise Hashem "...We shall thank you and relate Your praise - for our lives which are committed to Your power, and for our souls that are entrusted to You, *and for Your miracles that are with us every day*...". I would argue that everything that Hashem has done and everything He continues to do is evidence of His continual creation which is, in and of itself, a miracle, is it not? Reply

Austen England March 21, 2023
in response to David Harold Chester:

They look pretty miraculous to me.
You could try performing them - but you might have to do it without help from the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

David Harold Chester Petach Tikva, Israel March 17, 2023
in response to Jack:

Jack, I find those the things that happen to us are outside the definition of miracles.

A miracle is an unusual happening that we cannot explain when our experience and knowledge tells us it would be. We speak about the miracle of birth, and it is indeed a great wonder to how our species has developed in common with other animals to give birth to our offspring. But strictly this is not miraculous since it is something we can expect as a very frequent occurrence.

I do not oppose the prayer but it is not a good means for proving the frequency of miracles.

A small miracle happened to me some years ago when walking along the same route for my shopping. I was thinking that it would be good thing if I said morning prayers. One day I found a hat laying in the footpath. The next week the same thing happened and also on the following week, when the hat was a kippah! Surely this was a miracle, being so unlikely an occurrence because one hardly ever finds a hat. So now I pray every day! Reply

Jack Harpers Ferry, WV March 17, 2023
in response to David Harold Chester:

HaShem knows how to reach each and every one of us. When we reach for Him, He is (miraculously) there. When we call out to Him, He answers. In the Amidah, one of the blessings is "Blessed is HaShem, who answers prayer"... What were the first two hats you found? What do you suppose they were there for? My guess would be you said to HaShem "I should think it would be a good thing to say shaccaris every day", and the Holy One, Blessed be He responded with "I am above your head" (Bedtime Shema). You repeated your thought the following week, and again, HaShem responded the same way. Then on the third week, you made the same declaration, and this time He provided you with a kippah, as if to say "well, ok, what's the holdup?" Yep - I'd say that would be a miracle. (*or a hat shop had an open window on a windy day 3 times in succession - :) ) Reply
