1) It is proper to recite each day a verse beginning and ending with the same letters as one’s name, or else a verse in which the name is mentioned.

2) If one has several names, he should recite a verse for each name.

3) Our custom is to recite this verse several times a day, at the conclusion of the Shemoneh Esreh prayer.

4) A woman should also recite such verses beginning and ending with the same letters as her name.

5) The verse that one recites can even be taken from those chapters of Tehillim that are not recited on festive days.

6) Some are accustomed also to recite verses beginning and ending with the same letters as their Rebbe’s name.

7) When praying for a sick person, one recites verses of Tehillim that begin with the same letter as his name.
